The Opportunity:
As a School Counsellor, you will provide essential one-to-one support to students in Years 7-13, helping them navigate personal and academic challenges. This role is ideal for someone passionate about making a meaningful impact on young people’s lives within a supportive and dynamic team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group counselling to students in the Senior School.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions and progress.
- Collaborate with the Head of Pupil Health and Wellbeing, Clinical Mental Health Lead, and other pastoral staff.
- Support students in developing effective coping strategies and resilience.
- Communicate regularly with relevant staff to ensure a coordinated approach to student wellbeing.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of wellbeing initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified counsellor with relevant experience in school or youth settings.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
- Experience working with young people and supporting their emotional and mental health.
- Commitment to working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred
- Experience in a school environment, particularly in a co-educational setting.
- Knowledge of child development and mental health support strategies.
- Experience with pastoral care and student welfare frameworks.
- Flexibility and willingness to work on a maternity cover basis.
