Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality Science lessons that are engaging, challenging, and aligned with the school’s values of Hard Work, Integrity, and Kindness.
  • Develop and implement evidence-informed teaching strategies using a Direct Instruction approach.
  • Support student progress and ensure that all students achieve their full potential, with a focus on academic rigour and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure consistency, quality, and workload balance across the science department.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and contribute to the continuous improvement of the science curriculum.
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively, promoting a culture of respect and high standards.
  • Engage with students in a supportive and encouraging manner, fostering a positive learning environment.
  • Contribute to extracurricular activities, including science clubs and special projects.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Science Teacher with relevant experience and a valid teaching qualification.
  • Experience in teaching Science up to KS4/KS5, with the ability to teach across specialisms.
  • Commitment to a warm/strict approach, with a strong focus on student outcomes and academic excellence.
  • Belief in the school’s mission to ensure all students can succeed in higher education and beyond.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a supportive team environment.

Preferred

  • Experience with evidence-informed teaching practices and Direct Instruction methodologies.
  • Background in developing and delivering high-quality CPD for colleagues.
  • Experience in leading or contributing to science clubs, enrichment activities, or special projects.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with a track record of student success.
