The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Science Technician - Chemistry to support practical learning in a dynamic and well-resourced laboratory environment. This role is ideal for a Science graduate who is passionate about education and has a strong understanding of health and safety procedures. You will work closely with the Chemistry department to ensure the smooth running of practical lessons and experiments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and organise practical resources and equipment for the Chemistry department.
  • Ensure all laboratory equipment is maintained in a safe and functional condition.
  • Support teachers in the delivery of practical lessons and experiments.
  • Maintain accurate records of stock, usage, and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Implement and enforce health and safety procedures in the laboratory.
  • Collaborate with other science technicians and teaching staff to support cross-departmental practical work.
  • Assist with the preparation and clean-up of laboratory areas after practical sessions.
  • Provide a high standard of support to students and staff in a safe and engaging learning environment.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant laboratory experience.
  • A sound understanding of health and safety procedures in a school or college setting.
  • A Science-related qualification or degree.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.

Preferred

  • Experience working in a school or college environment.
  • Science graduate with a background in Chemistry.
  • Experience with practical teaching support in a school setting.
  • Knowledge of laboratory equipment and its safe use.
