The Opportunity:

As an Engineering Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic team by maintaining workshops and laboratories to a high standard. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a team developing a state-of-the-art Engineering Centre and contributing to the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the academic team in maintaining and operating engineering workshops and laboratories to the highest standards.
  • Assist in the delivery of practical teaching sessions and support students in their learning.
  • Collaborate with lecturers and senior staff to ensure the effective use of facilities and equipment.
  • Ensure all engineering, fluid mechanics, electronics, and materials laboratories are maintained and ready for use.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to students and academic staff.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of teaching resources and facilities.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of practical experiments and projects.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports related to equipment, maintenance, and usage.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant engineering or technical qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in a technical or educational setting, preferably in a university, college, or school.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards.

Preferred

  • Experience in further education, particularly in Level 2 and 3 courses.
  • Industry experience in engineering or construction.
  • Knowledge of engineering software and tools.
  • Experience in supporting teaching and learning in a vocational context.
