The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) to support students in both the Prep and Senior Schools. This role is central to ensuring that all pupils receive the tailored support they need to thrive academically and socially. The position offers a manageable workload with a focus on direct student engagement and collaboration with teaching staff and parents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and manage the needs of students on the school’s SEN register, including those with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Provide guidance and advice to teaching staff on inclusive classroom practices and individual student needs.
  • Work directly with students to understand their needs and develop appropriate support strategies.
  • Collaborate with parents and external agencies to ensure consistent and effective support for students.
  • Promote and implement the school’s High-TEMPO principles across the curriculum.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of support strategies and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to special educational needs.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding and child protection policies.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in special educational needs.
  • Experience in working with children with additional needs, including those with EHCPs.
  • Strong understanding of inclusive education and differentiated teaching strategies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in a SENCo role or similar position.
  • Familiarity with the High-TEMPO principles for teaching and learning.
  • Experience in developing and implementing SEN policies.
  • Flexibility to work part-time and split time between Prep and Senior Schools.
