The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Science Technician - Chemistry to support the science department in maintaining and managing laboratory resources. This role is essential in ensuring that students have access to safe, well-maintained facilities that enable them to achieve their full academic potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and manage laboratory equipment and materials to ensure safe and effective use by students and staff.
  • Prepare and store chemicals, equipment, and materials in accordance with health and safety regulations.
  • Monitor and order laboratory stock to maintain adequate supplies for teaching and learning.
  • Provide administrative support, including collating student work and inputting data into relevant systems.
  • Contribute to the development of science-related IT initiatives and the school's pastoral support programme.
  • Assist with the setup and maintenance of laboratory environments for practical lessons and experiments.
  • Support the science department in delivering high-quality teaching and learning experiences.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety procedures in the laboratory.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Previous experience working in a similar role within a school or college setting.
  • Knowledge of laboratory health and safety requirements and procedures.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards.

Preferred

  • Experience with science IT systems or digital learning tools.
  • Familiarity with curriculum planning and delivery in a science context.
  • Experience in supporting pastoral care initiatives within an educational setting.
  • Understanding of Compassionate Education principles and inclusive practice.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary on Scale 6 (£29,563 - £32,341 FTE).
