The Opportunity:
We are seeking a dedicated Science Technician to join a dynamic and supportive department. This role will involve assisting with laboratory maintenance, resource development, and supporting science teaching across Key Stages 4 and 5. The successful candidate will contribute to the school’s commitment to high-quality science education and student achievement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the delivery of practical science lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
- Maintain and manage laboratory equipment, ensuring all resources are up to date and in good working condition.
- Assist in the preparation and organisation of experiments and materials for teaching staff.
- Collaborate with science teachers to develop and enhance science resources and teaching practices.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards in the laboratory environment.
- Provide technical support during lessons and examinations.
- Keep accurate records of equipment usage and maintenance schedules.
- Participate in staff development and training opportunities.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience working in a science environment, preferably with a focus on Chemistry and/or Physics.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to working as part of a team and contributing to a collaborative department.
- A genuine enthusiasm for science and supporting practical learning.
Preferred
- Proficiency in IT and the use of relevant software.
- Experience of working with young people.
- Previous experience in a school or educational setting.
- Awareness of health and safety procedures in a laboratory environment.
