The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dedicated Science Technician to join a dynamic and supportive department. This role will involve assisting with laboratory maintenance, resource development, and supporting science teaching across Key Stages 4 and 5. The successful candidate will contribute to the school’s commitment to high-quality science education and student achievement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of practical science lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
  • Maintain and manage laboratory equipment, ensuring all resources are up to date and in good working condition.
  • Assist in the preparation and organisation of experiments and materials for teaching staff.
  • Collaborate with science teachers to develop and enhance science resources and teaching practices.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards in the laboratory environment.
  • Provide technical support during lessons and examinations.
  • Keep accurate records of equipment usage and maintenance schedules.
  • Participate in staff development and training opportunities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working in a science environment, preferably with a focus on Chemistry and/or Physics.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to working as part of a team and contributing to a collaborative department.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for science and supporting practical learning.

Preferred

  • Proficiency in IT and the use of relevant software.
  • Experience of working with young people.
  • Previous experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Awareness of health and safety procedures in a laboratory environment.
