The Opportunity:
As a Science Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting science education by preparing and maintaining equipment and resources. Your work will ensure a safe and efficient environment for practical lessons, contributing directly to the quality of science teaching and student learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain science equipment, resources, and materials for practical lessons
- Ensure a safe and well-organised laboratory and science teaching environment
- Support teachers with the setup and breakdown of experiments and demonstrations
- Monitor and report on the condition of equipment and recommend replacements or repairs
- Assist in the storage and management of chemicals, specimens, and other science materials
- Collaborate with teaching staff to develop and implement practical science activities
- Maintain accurate records of equipment usage and inventory
- Promote health and safety standards in science classrooms and laboratories
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience in a science laboratory or technical support role
- Knowledge of science equipment and laboratory safety procedures
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills
Preferred
- Previous experience in an educational setting
- Understanding of special educational needs and inclusive teaching practices
- Experience with GCSE science curriculum and practical teaching methods
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations in schools
