The Opportunity:

As a Second in Mathematics, you will play a vital role in supporting the Head of Department in delivering high-quality mathematics education. This is an opportunity to be part of a school that values innovation, leadership, and the development of the whole child.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head of Department in planning, delivering, and reviewing the mathematics curriculum.
  • Deliver high-quality teaching and learning experiences to students across a range of age groups.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance student achievement and engagement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure consistency in teaching standards and student outcomes.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities and contribute to the school’s wider community.
  • Provide pastoral support and guidance to students as needed.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to students and parents.
  • Stay up to date with developments in mathematics education and incorporate best practices into teaching.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Appropriate degree, with UK PGCE or other teaching qualification giving QTS.
  • Minimum three years’ teaching experience.
  • Familiarity with the National Curriculum of England (plus IGCSE/GCSE and/or A Levels as appropriate).
  • Passion for teaching and commitment to educating the whole child.
  • A high level of professionalism and consideration of the well-being of children.
  • Recent and consistent involvement in extracurricular activities.
  • Respect for all members of a school community, irrespective of position, gender, age and ethnic background.
  • Previous experience working with students for whom English is not their first language.
  • A positive and solution-focused attitude to working life.

Preferred

  • The ability to teach another science up to IGCSE.
