The Opportunity:

As the Head of Tennis Academy, you will lead and manage a comprehensive tennis programme that caters to students of all ages and abilities. This role is ideal for a passionate and experienced leader who is committed to excellence in sports education and student development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and develop a tennis coaching programme across multiple age groups and ability levels
  • Deliver high-quality tennis training sessions, squads, and competition preparation
  • Oversee the planning and implementation of competitive and recreational tennis pathways
  • Lead and mentor a team of tennis coaches, providing guidance and support for their professional development
  • Ensure the safety, wellbeing, and development of all students, with a strong focus on child protection and safeguarding
  • Coordinate budget management, resource planning, and equipment procurement for the tennis programme
  • Build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, promoting a supportive and inclusive environment
  • Stay up to date with the latest tennis techniques, tactical frameworks, and competition rules

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in managing tennis coaching programmes across multiple age groups and ability levels
  • Appropriate degree with UK PGCE or other teaching qualification
  • Strong tennis technical and tactical knowledge across both performance and recreational pathways
  • Proven leadership and programme management experience within a sports academy or similar environment
  • Recognised Tennis Coaching Qualification (national governing body or international equivalent, Level 2 or higher preferred)
  • Excellent organisational, administrative, and communication skills
  • Commitment to child protection, safeguarding, and promoting the welfare of young people
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays to support training and competitions

Preferred

  • Experience working with students for whom English is an additional language
  • Experience coaching in a school, academy, club, or high-performance tennis environment
  • Experience managing or coaching advanced/performance-level players and competitive squads
  • Experience in budget management, resource planning, and equipment procurement
  • Ability to mentor, guide, and support the development of other tennis coaches
