The Opportunity:

As a School Counsellor Upper School, you will provide essential support to students, helping them navigate academic, social, and personal challenges. This role is central to the school’s mission of ensuring students achieve academic success while developing the skills and resilience needed for a fulfilling future.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students in managing academic, social, and emotional challenges through individual and group counselling.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other pastoral staff to ensure a consistent and supportive approach to student well-being.
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote mental health, resilience, and personal growth among students.
  • Provide guidance on career planning, university applications, and life skills development.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on student progress and interventions.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding and pastoral care policies and procedures.
  • Engage with students in a compassionate and professional manner to build trust and encourage open communication.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • BACP registered or accredited counsellor with relevant experience in student support.
  • Strong understanding of adolescent development and mental health.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and student welfare.

Preferred

  • Experience working in an international or multicultural school environment.
  • Familiarity with UK or international curricula and assessment systems.
  • Experience with university and career guidance.
  • Knowledge of holistic education and student well-being initiatives.
