The Opportunity:

As a Secondary Teacher, you will play a key role in shaping a unique and impactful learning experience for students with Special Educational Needs. This is an opportunity to lead a curriculum that blends academic excellence with hands-on, real-world learning in a vibrant outdoor setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver a diverse curriculum, including AQA GCSEs, BTECs (Land-Based & Animal Care), and SEN-specific qualifications.
  • Lead and mentor a team of educators, fostering a culture of high expectations and therapeutic support.
  • Integrate the school’s farm and smallholding into daily lessons, creating immersive learning experiences in subjects like maths and biology.
  • Ensure a student-centered approach that supports academic achievement and personal development.
  • Collaborate with the farm manager to develop and implement outdoor-based learning initiatives.
  • Adapt curricula to meet the needs of neurodivergent learners and ensure inclusive teaching practices.
  • Support students in transitioning into adulthood with the qualifications, skills, and confidence they need.
  • Promote a positive and engaging learning environment that reflects the school’s mission and values.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Proven experience working with students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including ASC, SEMH, or MLD
  • Experience in curriculum development and delivery within a secondary education setting
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Familiarity with AQA and BTEC frameworks and their application in SEN contexts

Preferred

  • Experience in middle or senior leadership roles
  • Background in outdoor or experiential learning
  • Experience with vocational education and life skills development
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods for neurodivergent learners
  • Comfortable working in an outdoor and farm-based learning environment
