The Opportunity:

As a Specialist Teacher - SEND, you will play a vital role in delivering a differentiated curriculum tailored to the needs of students with moderate to severe learning difficulties. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students while working within a dedicated and supportive team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a highly differentiated curriculum tailored to the needs of students working significantly below age-related expectations.
  • Create a nurturing, structured, and engaging classroom environment that supports academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers, HLTA’s, and support staff to ensure a consistent and inclusive approach to teaching and learning.
  • Provide strong pastoral care and support to students with complex needs, ensuring their well-being and progress.
  • Monitor and assess student progress regularly, using data to inform teaching and support strategies.
  • Develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs) in line with the school’s values and educational goals.
  • Engage in professional development and contribute to the continuous improvement of the school’s SEND provision.
  • Maintain effective communication with parents and carers to support student success and well-being.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
  • Experience teaching students with moderate to severe learning difficulties, including significant speech, language, and communication needs.
  • Strong understanding of inclusive education and differentiated teaching strategies.
  • Ability to create a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience working in a mainstream or special school setting.
  • Experience with the primary curriculum and its application to students with complex needs.
  • Familiarity with the Catholic ethos and values of the school.
  • Experience in pastoral care and student support.
