The Opportunity:

As the SEMH Trust Lead, you will provide strategic leadership and support during a critical period of transition for a specialist SEMH school. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence the future of SEMH provision and potentially lead as a Headteacher.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and guidance to ensure the highest quality of education and care for SEMH pupils.
  • Support the school through the academy order process and ensure continuity of provision.
  • Work closely with the Trust leadership, Local Authority, and school team to maintain strong outcomes for pupils.
  • Contribute to ongoing school improvement and readiness for potential academisation.
  • Develop and implement effective systems and practices across the Trust.
  • Offer specialist expertise in SEMH provision both within the Trust and across the city.
  • Support the development of SEMH practice and provide strategic guidance to other schools.
  • Prepare for the possibility of transitioning into a substantive Headteacher role.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in senior leadership within education, particularly in SEMH settings.
  • Strong knowledge of SEMH provision and best practices in special education.
  • Experience in leading and managing school improvement and transition processes.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with Trust leaders, Local Authority, and school teams.

Preferred

  • Experience in academisation or school transformation processes.
  • Leadership experience in a school setting, with a focus on SEMH.
  • Experience in developing and implementing strategic plans for school improvement.
  • Familiarity with Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and assessment processes.
  • A commitment to personalized learning and needs-led education.
