The Opportunity:

As a SEN Class Teacher, you will play a vital role in supporting students with learning disabilities and autism. You will help shape their educational journey, ensuring they receive the individualized attention and support they need to thrive in a structured and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, individualized teaching to students with complex learning needs and autism.
  • Create and implement differentiated lesson plans that meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Collaborate with support staff, parents, and other professionals to ensure a cohesive approach to student development.
  • Monitor and assess student progress regularly, adjusting teaching strategies as needed.
  • Promote student independence, self-regulation, and emotional well-being.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and behavior.
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
  • Ensure a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment for all students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a valid teaching qualification (e.g., QTS).
  • Proven experience teaching students with learning disabilities and/or autism.
  • Strong understanding of SEN and inclusive education practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Preferred

  • Experience working in a special school setting.
  • Familiarity with Self-Reg and trauma-informed teaching approaches.
  • Experience with curriculum development and individualized learning plans.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and support a multidisciplinary approach.
