The Opportunity:
As a SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will provide essential support to a Year 7 student with speech, language and communication needs, while contributing to the wider Learning Support Department. This role is ideal for someone passionate about education and committed to helping students with special educational needs achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support a Year 7 student with speech, language and communication needs in lessons and across the curriculum.
- Assist with individual learning and organisational needs in line with the student’s EHCP.
- Provide additional support to other students with SEND as required.
- Undertake administrative and organisational tasks to help the Learning Support Department run smoothly.
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and other professionals to ensure effective and consistent support.
- Monitor and report on student progress and development.
- Contribute to the planning and delivery of targeted interventions and activities.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with school procedures.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience in a similar learning support or teaching assistant role.
- Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively within a busy team.
- Understanding of special educational needs and the principles of inclusive education.
Preferred
- Experience working with students with speech, language and communication needs.
- Knowledge of EHCP and individual support planning.
- Experience in a secondary school environment.
- Familiarity with administrative tasks and systems used in educational settings.
