The Opportunity:

As a Site Manager, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe, secure, and well-presented school environment. This hands-on position ensures that the school site is always ready for students, staff, and visitors, supporting the smooth operation of a dynamic educational institution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the school site is secure, well-maintained, and ready for use at all times.
  • Conduct routine checks of premises, including fire alarms, emergency lighting, and building safety.
  • Carry out minor repairs, maintenance, and DIY tasks across the school.
  • Liaise with external contractors and manage their access and compliance with school procedures.
  • Support the preparation and coordination of school events, meetings, and open days.
  • Maintain the presentation and upkeep of school grounds, including light gardening and outdoor maintenance.
  • Work during school closure periods, performing maintenance, safety checks, and site readiness tasks.
  • Identify and report defects or issues requiring specialist attention.
  • Keep accurate records of all maintenance, safety checks, and contractor activities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in a caretaking, premises, maintenance, or site support role.
  • Basic practical skills in maintenance, DIY, and minor repairs.
  • Good understanding of health and safety responsibilities.
  • Ability to carry out routine site and safety checks and maintain clear records.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage a varied workload.
  • Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy.
  • Ability to work independently and respond flexibly to the needs of the school.
  • Good communication skills to interact effectively with staff, contractors, and visitors.

Preferred

  • Previous experience working in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of school premises compliance requirements.
  • Experience supporting contractor visits and planned maintenance.
  • Experience of completing or supporting risk assessments.
  • Relevant training in First Aid, Fire Safety, or Health and Safety.
