The Opportunity:
A Design and Technology Technician is needed to support the department’s mission of providing high-quality education and hands-on learning experiences. This role is essential in maintaining the school’s excellent facilities and ensuring smooth teaching operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and manage teaching resources and materials for Design and Technology lessons.
- Maintain and service a wide range of equipment, including lathes, milling machines, and vacuum formers.
- Assist teaching staff during lessons to ensure the safe and effective use of tools and machinery.
- Manage stock control and ensure all materials are available for lessons and projects.
- Support the development and delivery of practical and theoretical lessons.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards in all workshop areas.
- Collaborate with department staff to enhance the learning experience for students.
- Keep detailed records of equipment usage and maintenance schedules.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Relevant experience in a technical or engineering role.
- Practical knowledge of workshop tools and machinery.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- A solid understanding of health and safety procedures in a school setting.
Preferred
- Experience in a school or educational environment.
- Background in teaching or supporting learning in Design and Technology.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Initiative and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
