The Opportunity:
As a SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting children with additional needs across Years 3 to 8. You will help create a positive and nurturing environment, developing strong relationships with students and contributing to their academic and personal growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support children on the learning support register with individual and group activities.
- Develop and maintain positive, trusting relationships with students and their families.
- Work closely with teachers and other support staff to create and implement individual learning plans.
- Assist in the delivery of structured learning activities tailored to the needs of each child.
- Monitor and record student progress, providing regular updates to the teaching team.
- Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages participation and engagement.
- Support the delivery of extra-curricular activities where appropriate.
- Ensure the health and safety of all students during learning and play activities.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive and supportive relationships with students and staff.
- Understanding of inclusive education practices and child development.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Preferred
- Previous experience in a school or educational setting.
- Qualifications in education support or related fields.
- Experience with individual learning plans and differentiated teaching strategies.
- Knowledge of assistive technologies and resources for learners with additional needs.
