The Opportunity:

As a SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting children with additional needs across Years 3 to 8. You will help create a positive and nurturing environment, developing strong relationships with students and contributing to their academic and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support children on the learning support register with individual and group activities.
  • Develop and maintain positive, trusting relationships with students and their families.
  • Work closely with teachers and other support staff to create and implement individual learning plans.
  • Assist in the delivery of structured learning activities tailored to the needs of each child.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing regular updates to the teaching team.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages participation and engagement.
  • Support the delivery of extra-curricular activities where appropriate.
  • Ensure the health and safety of all students during learning and play activities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive and supportive relationships with students and staff.
  • Understanding of inclusive education practices and child development.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Qualifications in education support or related fields.
  • Experience with individual learning plans and differentiated teaching strategies.
  • Knowledge of assistive technologies and resources for learners with additional needs.
