The Opportunity:

As an SEN Teacher, you will play a vital role in helping young people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder and Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs reach their full potential. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver individualized learning plans tailored to the needs of students.
  • Collaborate with therapists, psychologists, and teaching assistants to support student progress.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages engagement and learning.
  • Monitor and assess student performance regularly, adjusting teaching strategies as needed.
  • Work closely with parents and carers to ensure a consistent and supportive approach to student development.
  • Participate in staff training and professional development to enhance teaching practices.
  • Support students in developing social, emotional, and communication skills.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on student progress and behavior.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Previous teaching experience, preferably in a specialist SEN setting
  • Strong understanding of SEND needs, particularly Autistic Spectrum Disorder and SEMH
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team

Preferred

  • Experience with behavior management strategies
  • Knowledge of alternative communication systems
  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) or similar
  • Familiarity with assistive technology and inclusive teaching practices
