The Opportunity:
As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will play a vital role in delivering specialist assessment and intervention to pupils with diverse needs. This is a chance to make a meaningful impact in an education setting that values innovation, collaboration, and professional growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessments and interventions tailored to individual pupil needs.
- Work collaboratively with the education team and multidisciplinary professionals to support pupils with developmental trauma, neurodivergent needs, or SEMH challenges.
- Maintain a caseload of pupils under the guidance of a designated clinical supervisor and site lead.
- Contribute to staff training and consultation as required.
- Apply the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working to ensure consistent and high-quality practice.
- Engage with families, carers, and other professionals to support pupil progress.
- Stay up to date with relevant legislation, assessment tools, and intervention strategies.
- Participate in research projects, training, and development opportunities.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy
- HCPC registered
- 1-2 years of experience as a fully registered member of the RCSLT working in a similar setting
- Experience working with individuals presenting with complex and diverse communication profiles
- Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma-informed practice
- Experience of multi-disciplinary working in a range of settings
- Experience communicating with families, carers, and other professionals
- Good relationship-building, analytical, and judgmental skills
- Strong communication skills (oral and written)
- Strong time management and organisational skills
- Competent in core areas of SaLT practice and understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards
- Knowledge of SaLT assessment tools and intervention strategies
- Knowledge of legislation relevant to clinical practice and professional management
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Willingness to attend training and work towards further qualifications
- Experience working with pupils with autism spectrum disorder
Preferred
- Understanding of sensory and motor differences that may impact communication
- Evidence of understanding the relationship between arousal levels and communication
