The Opportunity:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities. You will work closely with class teachers to enhance learning outcomes, promote independence, and create an inclusive classroom environment that empowers students to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support class teachers in raising the learning and attainment of pupils with special educational needs and disabilities.
- Promote pupils’ independence, self-esteem, and social inclusion through individual and group support.
- Assist with planning, preparation, and resourcing for lessons to ensure effective teaching and learning.
- Implement effective behaviour management strategies in line with school policies and procedures.
- Observe and report on pupil performance to support ongoing progress and development.
- Supervise pupils when necessary and provide support during educational visits and examinations.
- Use ICT skills to enhance learning and support pupils in accessing the curriculum.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of school policies and practices that promote inclusion and student well-being.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience working with students with special educational needs and disabilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and other professionals.
- Knowledge of child protection, health and safety, and behaviour management policies.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Preferred
- Experience in teaching or supporting learning in key stage 2, 3, and 4.
- Familiarity with educational frameworks such as AQA and ASDAN.
- Experience with behaviour management and inclusion strategies.
- Willingness to support playground and break time supervision.
