The Opportunity:

As Head of School, you will lead and manage the school’s operations, ensuring high standards of education, staff development, and student achievement. This is a key leadership role that shapes the school’s vision and drives continuous improvement in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the school site.
  • Ensure the school environment meets curriculum and health and safety requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Headteacher to manage the school’s budget and resources.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based improvement plans and policies.
  • Recruit, retain, and deploy staff effectively to support the school’s vision.
  • Monitor and evaluate the use of resources to enhance the quality of education.
  • Promote a professional culture among staff and support their development.
  • Implement appraisal systems and support staff performance management.
  • Identify and support staff progression and succession planning.
  • Ensure high standards of behavior and attendance across the school.
  • Coordinate the submission of reports for student review meetings.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in school leadership and management.
  • Strong understanding of curriculum development and assessment frameworks.
  • Experience in managing budgets and resources effectively.
  • Ability to lead and develop staff, including managing under-performance.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and equality, diversity, and inclusion policies.
  • Experience in implementing school improvement strategies and self-evaluation processes.

Preferred

  • Experience in working with students with learning difficulties.
  • Familiarity with vocational training platforms such as AQA and ASDAN.
  • Experience in leading EHC Plan Reviews and engaging with external stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with a track record of successful school improvement.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary range of £55,000 to £65,000.
  • Full-time position with 40 hours per week over 42 weeks.
