The Opportunity:

As an Executive Headteacher (SEN Role), you will lead and shape the strategic direction of SEN provision across multiple schools while also providing direct leadership at designated sites. This is a pivotal role for someone passionate about driving excellence in special educational needs and making a meaningful impact on student outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and system-wide oversight of all SEN schools.
  • Ensure consistency, quality, and compliance across all SEN provisions.
  • Lead the development and implementation of an organisation-wide SEN strategy aligned with the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Act as Executive Headteacher for designated SEN schools and provide day-to-day leadership.
  • Hold accountability for standards, safeguarding, behaviour, staffing, and outcomes at site level.
  • Oversee curriculum intent, implementation, and impact across all SEN schools.
  • Ensure curricula are ambitious, personalised, and appropriate for complex SEN needs.
  • Champion trauma-informed, relational, and inclusive approaches to safeguarding and behaviour.
  • Line manage Headteachers and SEN Leaders, supporting their professional development and leadership capacity.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Significant senior leadership experience in SEN settings
  • Proven impact across multiple schools or complex provisions
  • Experience leading a SEN school at Head or Executive Head level
  • Deep understanding of ASD, SEMH and trauma-informed practice
  • Strong safeguarding leadership experience
  • Strategic, system-level leadership capability

Preferred

  • Executive or trust-wide leadership experience
  • Experience leading SEN schools through Ofsted inspection
  • Experience working with local authorities or commissioners
  • NPQEL or equivalent leadership qualification

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary between £70,000 and £90,000 per annum
  • Permanent full-time contract (52 weeks)
