The Opportunity:
As an Executive Headteacher (SEN Role), you will lead and shape the strategic direction of SEN provision across multiple schools while also providing direct leadership at designated sites. This is a pivotal role for someone passionate about driving excellence in special educational needs and making a meaningful impact on student outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership and system-wide oversight of all SEN schools.
- Ensure consistency, quality, and compliance across all SEN provisions.
- Lead the development and implementation of an organisation-wide SEN strategy aligned with the SEND Code of Practice.
- Act as Executive Headteacher for designated SEN schools and provide day-to-day leadership.
- Hold accountability for standards, safeguarding, behaviour, staffing, and outcomes at site level.
- Oversee curriculum intent, implementation, and impact across all SEN schools.
- Ensure curricula are ambitious, personalised, and appropriate for complex SEN needs.
- Champion trauma-informed, relational, and inclusive approaches to safeguarding and behaviour.
- Line manage Headteachers and SEN Leaders, supporting their professional development and leadership capacity.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status
- Significant senior leadership experience in SEN settings
- Proven impact across multiple schools or complex provisions
- Experience leading a SEN school at Head or Executive Head level
- Deep understanding of ASD, SEMH and trauma-informed practice
- Strong safeguarding leadership experience
- Strategic, system-level leadership capability
Preferred
- Executive or trust-wide leadership experience
- Experience leading SEN schools through Ofsted inspection
- Experience working with local authorities or commissioners
- NPQEL or equivalent leadership qualification
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary between £70,000 and £90,000 per annum
- Permanent full-time contract (52 weeks)
