The Opportunity:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities. You will work closely with class teachers to enhance learning outcomes, promote independence, and create an inclusive and engaging classroom environment for all students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support class teachers in raising the learning and attainment of pupils.
- Promote pupils’ independence, self-esteem, and social inclusion.
- Provide individual or group support to help pupils access the curriculum and achieve success.
- Assist with planning, preparation, and resourcing for lessons.
- Use effective behaviour management strategies to maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
- Organise and manage teaching space and resources to support learning.
- Observe pupil performance and provide feedback to class teachers.
- Support class teachers during temporary absences by supervising lessons.
- Use ICT skills to enhance pupils’ learning experiences.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of school policies and practices.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience working with students with special educational needs and disabilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other professionals.
- Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
- Knowledge of relevant school policies and procedures.
Preferred
- Experience in teaching or learning support roles.
- Familiarity with assessment and planning processes.
- Experience with educational software and ICT tools.
- Ability to manage classroom behaviour effectively.
- Experience in supporting pupils with diverse learning needs.
