The Opportunity:

As a SENCO, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs and leading the inclusion team. This position requires a proactive and empathetic individual who can drive positive outcomes for students through collaboration, assessment, and intervention.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments and develop IEPs, IBPs, and ALPs to support student learning and progress.
  • Maintain the Inclusion Register and monitor the provision map of interventions across the school.
  • Lead and mentor the inclusion team, ensuring effective use of learning support resources.
  • Identify training needs and deliver in-house CPD sessions to support staff development.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, identifying priority areas for targeted intervention.
  • Collaborate with external specialists and colleagues to enhance student outcomes.
  • Promote inclusion and support staff, families, and students on SEN and inclusion issues.
  • Develop policies and practices that lead to high-quality outcomes for all students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in education or PGCE with postgraduate qualifications in Special Education, including SENCO accredited training or a Master’s in Special Education.
  • Proven experience as a SENCO or Learning Support Coordinator, managing a team of educational professionals.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent organization and time management abilities.
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Good command of the English language, both written and oral.
  • Knowledge of international childhood education standards.

Preferred

  • Experience working with students for whom English is an additional language.
  • Background in child development or counselling.
  • Experience in curriculum development and assessment practices.
