The Opportunity:

As a SEND Behaviour Support Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting students with complex needs, including SEMH and pastoral care. You will work closely with the SEND Senior Curriculum Manager to develop and implement individualised behaviour support plans that promote positive engagement, attendance, and achievement. This is an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students and contribute to a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement person-centred Behaviour Support Plans for individual learners
  • Provide 1:1 and group support sessions in and outside of timetabled learning
  • Monitor at-risk learners and collaborate with parents, staff, and external agencies to support engagement and progression
  • Maintain accurate intervention records, SMART targets, and reports using college systems
  • Support safeguarding processes, including recording concerns and initial declarations
  • Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion and contribute to the College’s quality improvement processes
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders, including transitions and SEND services

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in supporting students with complex needs, including SEMH and pastoral care
  • Strong understanding of behaviour support strategies and safeguarding procedures
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with experience in record-keeping and reporting
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion

Preferred

  • Experience in developing and implementing individualised behaviour support plans
  • Experience with educational or pastoral support systems
  • Knowledge of SEND frameworks and policies
  • Experience working in a college or further education setting
  • Experience with transition support and external agency collaboration
