Summary:

Head of Mathematics to lead and manage a department with a focus on excellence in teaching and learning.

The Opportunity:

As the Head of Mathematics, you will lead and manage a department, ensuring outstanding teaching and learning are maintained. You will play a key role in developing the Maths Learning Area, promoting the vision that Mathematics education is for all.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Mathematics department to ensure high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve student achievement and engagement in Mathematics.
  • Support and mentor teachers to enhance their practice and professional development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the school to integrate Mathematics into a broad and balanced curriculum.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching and learning in the department.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in Mathematics education.
  • Work with senior leadership to align departmental goals with the school’s overall vision and objectives.
  • Ensure that all students, regardless of ability, have access to a high-quality Mathematics education.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in leading and managing a Mathematics department.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics and a passion for Mathematics education.
  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to drive continuous improvement and innovation in teaching and learning.
  • Commitment to the principle that Mathematics education is for all.

Preferred

  • Experience in developing and implementing departmental strategies.
  • Experience with curriculum design and delivery.
  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language or other relevant qualifications.
  • Experience in working within a multi-academy trust or federation.
