The Opportunity:
As the Head of Mathematics, you will lead and manage a department, ensuring outstanding teaching and learning are maintained. You will play a key role in developing the Maths Learning Area, promoting the vision that Mathematics education is for all.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Mathematics department to ensure high standards of teaching and learning.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve student achievement and engagement in Mathematics.
- Support and mentor teachers to enhance their practice and professional development.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the school to integrate Mathematics into a broad and balanced curriculum.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching and learning in the department.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in Mathematics education.
- Work with senior leadership to align departmental goals with the school’s overall vision and objectives.
- Ensure that all students, regardless of ability, have access to a high-quality Mathematics education.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in leading and managing a Mathematics department.
- Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics and a passion for Mathematics education.
- Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
- Ability to drive continuous improvement and innovation in teaching and learning.
- Commitment to the principle that Mathematics education is for all.
Preferred
- Experience in developing and implementing departmental strategies.
- Experience with curriculum design and delivery.
- Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language or other relevant qualifications.
- Experience in working within a multi-academy trust or federation.
