The Opportunity:
Join a school that values inclusion and innovation as a SEND Teacher. You will lead and manage a dedicated provision for pupils with complex needs, delivering a high-quality, personalised education that supports their growth and development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the enhanced provision (Willow Room) on a daily basis.
- Plan and deliver highly personalised learning aligned to EHCP outcomes.
- Create a calm, structured and low-arousal environment to support pupils’ regulation and engagement.
- Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants to deliver high-quality provision and targeted support.
- Support pupils to access both the enhanced provision and mainstream opportunities where appropriate.
- Work closely with the SENDCo, external professionals and families to ensure a joined-up approach.
- Monitor and assess progress using tools such as PIVATS and maintain detailed records of learning and development.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Proven experience of teaching pupils with SEND, particularly those with complex needs.
- Strong understanding of autism, speech and language needs, and sensory processing difficulties.
- Experience of planning and delivering personalised learning linked to EHCP outcomes.
- Ability to adapt the curriculum to meet a wide range of needs.
- Experience of assessing and tracking small-step progress.
- Ability to create a calm, structured and supportive learning environment.
- Experience of effectively deploying and line managing Teaching Assistants in the classroom environment, including providing regular feedback to support their professional development and ensure high-quality practice.
- Experience of using visual supports e.g., communication boards and alternative communication strategies to enable pupils to access learning.
- Strong knowledge of evidence-based interventions and adapted teaching approaches (e.g. Attention Autism, use of structured routines, visual timetables) to support pupil engagement, development and progress.
- Strong knowledge of emotional regulation to support behaviour management.
- Excellent communication skills and commitment to working in partnership with parents and professionals.
- Commitment to inclusive practice and high expectations for all pupils.
Preferred
- Additional SEND qualifications (e.g. NASENCo award).
- Experience of working within an enhanced provision or specialist setting.
- Experience of leading or managing a provision or area within a school.
- Knowledge of evidence-based approaches (e.g. Zones of Regulation, TEACCH, Scerts)
- Experience of working with external agencies (e.g. SALT, OT, EP).
- Experience of leading EHCP reviews and multi-agency meetings.
- Understanding of sensory integration strategies and communication interventions.
