The Opportunity:

As a SENDCO, you will lead and coordinate the provision of support for students with special educational needs and disabilities. You will work closely with staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure that all students receive the individualised support they need to succeed. This is a key role in shaping an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage the school’s special educational needs and disabilities support framework.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external agencies to identify and meet the needs of students with SEND.
  • Ensure compliance with SEND legislation, policies, and best practices.
  • Develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs) and support strategies.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on inclusive teaching practices.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of support interventions.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on student progress and support.
  • Represent the school in meetings with external agencies and stakeholders.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant experience in SEN support, preferably in a secondary school setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of SEND legislation, policies, and best practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience in supporting students with a wide range of special educational needs.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet changing needs.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in developing and implementing SEN strategies.
  • Experience with assessment and monitoring of student progress.
  • Experience in working with external agencies and parents.
  • Leadership experience within a school or educational setting.
  • Experience with inclusive curriculum design and delivery.
