The Opportunity:

A school is seeking a Senior Carpenter/Joiner to contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of its facilities. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about craftsmanship, works well in a team, and is committed to delivering high-quality results in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead carpentry and joinery projects across the school campus.
  • Develop and implement construction plans in line with the school’s standards and requirements.
  • Design and install bespoke joinery solutions for classrooms, offices, and communal areas.
  • Analyze and resolve technical challenges related to building maintenance and refurbishment.
  • Coordinate with other tradespeople and contractors to ensure timely and efficient project completion.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior staff members and apprentices.
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of school facilities through innovative and sustainable practices.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience as a Senior Carpenter/Joiner with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of carpentry techniques, tools, and materials.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and construction plans.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Valid qualification in carpentry or joinery, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working in a school or educational environment is preferred.

Preferred

  • Experience with large-scale construction or renovation projects.
  • Familiarity with the International Baccalaureate framework or educational institution settings.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a team-based environment.
  • Knowledge of sustainable building practices and materials.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with colleagues and stakeholders.
