The Opportunity:
A school is seeking a Senior Carpenter/Joiner to contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of its facilities. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about craftsmanship, works well in a team, and is committed to delivering high-quality results in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and lead carpentry and joinery projects across the school campus.
- Develop and implement construction plans in line with the school’s standards and requirements.
- Design and install bespoke joinery solutions for classrooms, offices, and communal areas.
- Analyze and resolve technical challenges related to building maintenance and refurbishment.
- Coordinate with other tradespeople and contractors to ensure timely and efficient project completion.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
- Provide guidance and support to junior staff members and apprentices.
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of school facilities through innovative and sustainable practices.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience as a Senior Carpenter/Joiner with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
- In-depth knowledge of carpentry techniques, tools, and materials.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and construction plans.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Valid qualification in carpentry or joinery, or equivalent experience.
- Experience working in a school or educational environment is preferred.
Preferred
- Experience with large-scale construction or renovation projects.
- Familiarity with the International Baccalaureate framework or educational institution settings.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in a team-based environment.
- Knowledge of sustainable building practices and materials.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with colleagues and stakeholders.
