Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging and well-structured Biology lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
- Develop schemes of work and lesson plans that promote practical skills and a deep understanding of Biology.
- Assess, monitor, and report on students’ progress, providing constructive feedback to support improvement and achievement.
- Prepare students for internal and external assessments, including GCSE and A-level Biology.
- Manage resources, equipment, and materials effectively to ensure they are well maintained and available for lessons.
- Contribute to the wider life of the school, including participation in open evenings, parent meetings, and enrichment activities.
- Support the development of students’ independence, confidence, and teamwork through practical activities and projects.
- Stay up to date with curriculum changes and best practices in teaching Biology.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A specialism in Biology with the ability to teach across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, including GCSE and A-level Biology.
- Experience as an excellent classroom practitioner who can lead by example.
- Demonstrable collaborative working practices and the ability to manage change and work under pressure.
- An approachable and supportive disposition to ensure students feel heard and supported.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to build effective relationships internally and externally.
Preferred
- Experience with curriculum development and innovative teaching methods.
- Experience with enrichment activities or extracurricular programs.
- Familiarity with current science trends and educational technologies.
