The Opportunity:

As a Sports Coordinator, you will play a key role in managing sports fixtures, overseeing the Fitness Suite, and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for students and staff. This position is ideal for someone passionate about sports and administration, with a strong focus on organisation and student welfare.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Director of Sport.
  • Coordinate all sports fixtures, including liaising with opposition schools, booking transport and facilities, and managing fixture calendars.
  • Maintain accurate records of fixtures, teams, results, and participation.
  • Support the organisation of sports events, tournaments, and competitions on and off site.
  • Ensure timely communication with staff, students, and parents regarding fixtures and schedules.
  • Oversee the safe use of gym equipment and conduct gym induction sessions.
  • Support the safe operation and supervision of the school swimming pool when required.
  • Monitor student access and usage, ensuring appropriate supervision and conduct.
  • Report any health and safety issues, equipment faults, or concerns promptly.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Strong organisational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Previous experience in an administrative or coordination role.
  • Confident interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work calmly under pressure.
  • High level of professionalism and discretion, particularly when working with students.
  • Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and digital scheduling systems.
  • A recognised fitness-related qualification (e.g. Level 2 or Level 3 Personal Training, Gym Instructor, or equivalent).
  • Understanding of, or willingness to learn, safeguarding responsibilities in a school environment.

Preferred

  • Experience working in a school or sports setting.
  • Knowledge of school sports fixtures or extracurricular programmes.
  • Familiarity with gym or fitness environments.
  • A relevant swimming or pool related qualification (e.g. Swim England / STA, Basic Pool Plant Awareness, or equivalent).
  • First Aid or relevant health and safety training (or willingness to undertake training).
