The Opportunity:
As the Head of Business Studies and IT, you will lead and develop two dynamic subjects, inspiring pupils across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on student learning and school leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the Business Studies and IT departments.
- Teach engaging and inspiring lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
- Foster enthusiasm for Business Studies and IT among pupils.
- Set and mark classwork, homework, internal assessments, and examinations.
- Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and contribute to whole-school tracking.
- Take responsibility for a form group, including pastoral care, parent communication, mentoring, and report writing.
- Plan and deliver meaningful form time activities and assemblies.
- Attend parents’ evenings for all classes taught.
- Prepare reports in line with the school calendar and expectations.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Holds a good honours degree.
- Strong subject knowledge in Business Studies and IT.
- Ability to teach confidently across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
- Excellent classroom practitioner with leadership potential.
- Understanding of the wider impact of the subject across the school.
- Collaborative working practices and ability to manage change.
- Warm, approachable manner and strong pastoral instincts.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred
- Experience in departmental leadership.
- Experience with curriculum development.
- Experience in pastoral care or student mentoring.
- Experience with school-wide initiatives or policy development.
