The Opportunity:

As a Senior House Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the Housemaster/Housemistress in managing a busy boarding house. This is a residential, non-teaching position focused on ensuring the safety, discipline, and pastoral care of students. You will be part of a friendly and supportive team in a dynamic and well-resourced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Housemaster/Housemistress in the day-to-day management of the boarding house.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students in a residential setting.
  • Promote good discipline and positive behavior among students.
  • Assist with pastoral care and support for students both inside and outside of school hours.
  • Coordinate with other staff to maintain a cohesive and supportive boarding environment.
  • Organize and participate in co-curricular activities that enhance student engagement.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports related to student welfare and house operations.
  • Provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for all students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working in a residential or educational setting.
  • A caring and proactive approach to student welfare.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or boarding environment.
  • Previous experience in a pastoral or support role.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and best practices.
  • Flexibility to work outside of standard office hours.
