The Opportunity:

As a Senior Science Technician, you will lead the science support team and ensure that practical science is delivered effectively across the school. This role is essential in maintaining the high standards of teaching and learning in a dynamic and well-resourced science department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of two science preparation rooms.
  • Provide technical support to science staff, ensuring that all resources and equipment are prepared in line with health and safety standards.
  • Lead and develop a team of technicians, fostering a collaborative and efficient working environment.
  • Ensure that all laboratory equipment is maintained and used safely in accordance with school policies.
  • Support the delivery of science lessons by preparing materials and managing practical experiments.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment usage and stock levels.
  • Collaborate with science department staff to improve the quality of science education.
  • Stay up to date with best practices in science education and laboratory safety.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience working in a laboratory environment, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills.
  • A commitment to health and safety standards in a laboratory setting.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Preferred

  • Experience in managing a team of technicians.
  • Knowledge of science curriculum requirements at GCSE and A-Level.
  • Experience with the maintenance and operation of science equipment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
