The Opportunity:

A Special Needs Teacher is needed to join a dedicated team that supports students aged 11-19 with a range of special educational needs. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact in a supportive and inclusive learning environment, where every student is encouraged to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging lessons tailored to students with a range of special educational needs.
  • Work closely with support staff, including speech and language therapists and occupational therapists, to provide holistic support for students.
  • Develop and implement creative schemes of work that reflect the unique learning profiles of students.
  • Track and monitor student progress using data to inform teaching strategies and interventions.
  • Collaborate with other schools, colleges, and organisations to support student transitions and continued learning.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive school culture that reflects the values of the school community.
  • Participate in staff training and professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practice.
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of extracurricular activities and therapeutic support programs.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS)
  • Proven experience in teaching students with special educational needs
  • Strong understanding of data tracking and its use in improving student outcomes
  • Commitment to supporting students with a range of learning needs, including autism spectrum condition, moderate and severe learning difficulties, and complex communication needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred

  • Experience teaching in a secondary school setting
  • Experience with primary age students and a willingness to develop SEN practice
  • Experience in developing and delivering creative and engaging lesson plans
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team with support staff and therapists
