The Opportunity:

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities to access the curriculum, develop independence, and achieve their full potential. This is a dynamic and impactful position that directly contributes to student success and school-wide inclusion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support class teachers in raising student attainment and promoting independent learning.
  • Assist students individually or in groups to access the curriculum and achieve a sense of accomplishment.
  • Implement effective behaviour management strategies in line with school policies.
  • Prepare and manage teaching spaces and resources to ensure a safe and stimulating learning environment.
  • Observe and report on student performance to class teachers.
  • Communicate regularly with staff, parents, and professionals to support student progress and wellbeing.
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of learning activities tailored to student needs.
  • Support the pastoral care of students, including leading a tutor group.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • GCSE or equivalent in English and maths (Grade 4 or above).
  • First-aid training or willingness to complete it.

Preferred

  • Experience working in a school or educational setting.
  • Experience with students with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Proficiency in using ICT to support learning.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary range of £20,800-£27,654 dependent on experience.
