The Opportunity:

A school is seeking a Special School Support Assistant (Bank) to support students with learning difficulties in a dynamic and supportive environment. This role offers flexibility and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students’ lives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the learning of students under the guidance of a teacher.
  • Assist with the personal care needs of pupils in a compassionate and professional manner.
  • Work with individuals and small groups across the school.
  • Cover staff absence and provide consistent support during absences.
  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Follow school policies and procedures related to safeguarding and student welfare.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff and other support staff to ensure the best outcomes for students.
  • Attend training sessions as required to enhance skills in working with students with special educational needs.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Some experience of working with children in a school or care setting in a paid or voluntary capacity.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
  • Ability to work flexibly and independently within a school environment.

Preferred

  • Experience of working with children with special educational needs (SEN).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  • Experience in a special school or similar setting.
