The Opportunity:

As a Specialist Teacher, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with complex communication and interaction needs. This position involves working closely with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement strategies that enhance learning and inclusion. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver tailored learning strategies for pupils with complex communication and interaction needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and external professionals to ensure a cohesive approach to student support.
  • Work in partnership with parents and carers to build trust and confidence in the school’s support framework.
  • Evaluate and refine teaching methods to improve outcomes for students with complex needs.
  • Liaise with the Local Authority and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with broader educational goals.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to support staff within the ARP.
  • Contribute to the development of inclusive practices across the school community.
  • Support the overall welfare and progression of targeted pupils within the ARP.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in supporting children with complex communication and interaction needs.
  • Relevant teaching qualification, including a Specialist Teacher qualification.
  • Experience working within a specialist provision or similar setting.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement individualized learning strategies.
  • Commitment to inclusive education and student welfare.

Preferred

  • Experience in working with parents and carers in a specialist setting.
  • Knowledge of SEN frameworks and support systems.
  • Experience with curriculum development for students with complex needs.
  • Leadership experience within a specialist provision team.
