The Opportunity:

As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will play a vital role in delivering specialist assessment and intervention to pupils with complex communication needs. This is a chance to work in a supportive, multidisciplinary team and contribute to meaningful outcomes for students in a dynamic education setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessments and interventions tailored to individual pupil needs.
  • Collaborate with education teams to support pupils with developmental trauma, neurodivergent conditions, or SEMH needs.
  • Maintain a caseload of pupils, with full support from a designated clinical supervisor and site lead.
  • Contribute to staff training and consultation as required, promoting best practices in SaLT.
  • Ensure all work aligns with the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working and professional standards.
  • Communicate effectively with families, carers, and multi-disciplinary teams to support pupil progress.
  • Stay up to date with current research, legislation, and best practices in SaLT.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Degree or Masters in Speech and Language Therapy
  • HCPC registered
  • Experience working with individuals with complex communication profiles
  • Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma-informed practice
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary working in a range of settings
  • Experience communicating with families and carers
  • Strong relationship building, analytical, and judgmental skills
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and organisational skills
  • Competence in core SaLT practice and understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards
  • Knowledge of SaLT assessment tools and intervention strategies
  • Understanding of relevant legislation and its implications for clinical practice

Preferred

  • Understanding of sensory and motor differences impacting communication
  • Awareness of the relationship between arousal levels and communication
