The Opportunity:

As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will deliver specialist assessment and intervention to pupils with a range of needs, including neurodivergent and SEMH profiles. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team committed to fostering independence and improving outcomes for students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver bespoke speech and language therapy assessments and interventions tailored to individual needs.
  • Work collaboratively with education teams and other professionals to support pupils’ development.
  • Maintain a caseload and contribute to staff training and consultation as required.
  • Follow the Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working to ensure consistent and high-quality practice.
  • Engage with families and carers to support pupils’ progress and development.
  • Stay up to date with current legislation and best practices in speech and language therapy.
  • Participate in research projects and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • HCPC registered.
  • 1-2 years of experience as a fully registered member of the RCSLT in a similar setting.
  • Experience working with individuals presenting with complex communication profiles.
  • Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma-informed practice.
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary working in a range of settings.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with families, carers, and colleagues.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Competence in core areas of SaLT practice and understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards.
  • Familiarity with SaLT assessment tools and intervention techniques.

Preferred

  • Understanding of sensory and motor differences that may impact communication.
  • Knowledge of the relationship between arousal levels and communication.
