The Opportunity:

The Staff Support Manager plays a vital role in promoting staff wellbeing through active listening and empathetic support. This role ensures that all staff have access to a confidential and non-judgemental space to discuss concerns, contributing to a positive and sustainable working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space for staff to discuss work-related concerns and wellbeing.
• Use active listening techniques to support staff in exploring and understanding their challenges.
• Offer empathetic support without acting as a decision-maker or line manager.
• Provide first-line advice on how to manage situational examples in the workplace.
• Help staff reflect on challenges and identify coping strategies through coaching techniques.
• Direct staff to appropriate internal or external support services when necessary.
• Maintain awareness of available wellbeing resources and support pathways.
• Build trust across the staff body through professionalism, discretion, and consistency.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• Strong active listening and interpersonal skills.
• High emotional intelligence and empathy.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
• Trustworthy, approachable, and non-judgemental.
• Skilled in signposting and supporting without directing.
• Awareness of staff wellbeing challenges within educational settings.

Preferred

• Practising Catholic.
• Experience in employee relations or generalist HR.
• Previous coaching experience.
