The Opportunity:
The Staff Support Manager plays a vital role in promoting staff wellbeing through active listening and empathetic support. This role ensures that all staff have access to a confidential and non-judgemental space to discuss concerns, contributing to a positive and sustainable working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space for staff to discuss work-related concerns and wellbeing.
- Use active listening techniques to support staff in exploring and understanding their challenges.
- Offer empathetic support without acting as a decision-maker or line manager.
- Provide first-line advice on how to manage situational examples in the workplace.
- Help staff reflect on challenges and identify coping strategies through coaching techniques.
- Direct staff to appropriate internal or external support services when necessary.
- Maintain awareness of available wellbeing resources and support pathways.
- Build trust across the staff body through professionalism, discretion, and consistency.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Strong active listening and interpersonal skills.
- High emotional intelligence and empathy.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Trustworthy, approachable, and non-judgemental.
- Skilled in signposting and supporting without directing.
- Awareness of staff wellbeing challenges within educational settings.
Preferred
- Practising Catholic.
- Experience in employee relations or generalist HR.
- Previous coaching experience.
