The Opportunity:
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Teacher of Music to join a supportive and inspiring department. Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality, engaging music lessons aligned with the school’s curriculum and learning objectives.
- Support the Director of Music in the development and delivery of the music curriculum and extra-curricular activities.
- Assist in the planning, organisation, and delivery of concerts, performances, and music events throughout the academic year.
- Provide pastoral support to pupils, including form tutor responsibilities and contributing to their academic and personal development.
- Monitor and assess pupil progress, maintaining accurate records and reporting to parents through the school’s reporting system.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a cohesive and effective music department, contributing to curriculum development and resource management.
- Participate in professional development and in-service training to enhance teaching practice and subject knowledge.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Relevant degree in Music or related field
- Experience teaching Music up to and including A Level
- Commitment to the Catholic ethos and values of the school
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to manage a class and maintain discipline in line with school policy
Preferred
- Experience as a form tutor or in a pastoral role
- Experience with music software such as Sibelius
- Ability to play piano to a good standard
- Experience in exam marking at GCSE or A Level
- Experience in leading or coaching music ensembles
- Experience in running residential trips or expeditions
