The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Teacher of Music to join a supportive and inspiring department. Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging music lessons aligned with the school’s curriculum and learning objectives.
  • Support the Director of Music in the development and delivery of the music curriculum and extra-curricular activities.
  • Assist in the planning, organisation, and delivery of concerts, performances, and music events throughout the academic year.
  • Provide pastoral support to pupils, including form tutor responsibilities and contributing to their academic and personal development.
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, maintaining accurate records and reporting to parents through the school’s reporting system.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a cohesive and effective music department, contributing to curriculum development and resource management.
  • Participate in professional development and in-service training to enhance teaching practice and subject knowledge.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Relevant degree in Music or related field
  • Experience teaching Music up to and including A Level
  • Commitment to the Catholic ethos and values of the school
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage a class and maintain discipline in line with school policy

Preferred

  • Experience as a form tutor or in a pastoral role
  • Experience with music software such as Sibelius
  • Ability to play piano to a good standard
  • Experience in exam marking at GCSE or A Level
  • Experience in leading or coaching music ensembles
  • Experience in running residential trips or expeditions
