The Opportunity:
We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support students in the classroom and during interventions. This role is essential in helping students achieve positive outcomes through structured support and engagement. The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers to ensure every child can access the curriculum effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support pupils in the classroom and during interventions under the direction of a class teacher.
- Deliver targeted support programs to help students achieve their learning goals.
- Develop and use resources to assist in the delivery of curriculum-based activities.
- Supervise pupils during breaks and lunchtimes, ensuring adherence to the school's behaviour policy.
- Liaise with class teachers and the SENCO to monitor and support pupils' individual education plans.
- Promote inclusion and positive relationships among students.
- Provide objective and accurate feedback to class teachers regarding pupil progress and behaviour.
- Implement strategies to manage behaviour and encourage positive student engagement.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience working with children in a learning environment.
- Good numeracy and literacy skills.
- Experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs in small groups and within the classroom.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply a range of behaviour management strategies.
- Ability to work as part of a team and understand classroom roles and responsibilities.
- Familiarity with basic technology, such as computers and photocopiers.
Preferred
- Experience with the implementation of new teaching strategies.
- Awareness of and commitment to safeguarding procedures.
- Experience with the council’s Equal Opportunities Policy.
