The Opportunity:

As a Part Time Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with Autism within a collaborative team of teachers, therapists, and specialists. Your energy, creativity, and commitment will help create an engaging and inclusive learning environment that empowers students to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with Autism using specialist skills and experience
  • Build strong relationships with pupils, parents, and carers to enable them to thrive
  • Provide visual support, structured activities, and clear routines
  • Assist with the implementation of Educational Health Care Plans (EHCPs)
  • Encourage independence and reward achievement of self-reliance
  • Monitor pupil progress, achievement, and development
  • Support teachers with lesson planning, evaluation, and record-keeping
  • Liaise with parents/carers and other professionals as required
  • Support the use of ICT and practical resources in learning activities
  • Support pupils during out-of-school activities, visits, and trips

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with children and young people with Autism
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team
  • Commitment to creating a safe and inclusive learning environment
  • Flexibility to work term time only plus INSET days
  • Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check

Preferred

  • Experience in education or a related field
  • Experience with Educational Health Care Plans (EHCPs)
  • Knowledge of teaching strategies for students with Autism
  • Experience with ICT and practical resources in learning activities
  • Experience supporting pupils during out-of-school activities, visits, and trips
