Learning Support Assistant needed at a school with a child centred, play based curriculum.

The Opportunity:

A Learning Support Assistant is needed to support pupils with learning differences in a stimulating and inclusive environment. This role is essential to helping children with severe and complex needs achieve their full potential through a child centred, play based curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with learning differences in a structured and nurturing environment.
  • Assist in delivering a child centred, play based curriculum that promotes communication and learning.
  • Work closely with teaching staff to ensure individual needs are met.
  • Create and maintain a calm, welcoming, and safe learning environment.
  • Promote equality, respect, and inclusion among all students and colleagues.
  • Encourage continuous improvement through collaboration and professional development.
  • Participate in training and development opportunities provided by the school.
  • Maintain accurate records and report progress to relevant staff.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with children with severe and complex needs, including autism.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a supportive and collaborative environment.
  • Flexibility to work term time only and 29 hours per week.

Preferred

  • Experience in special education or learning support.
  • Knowledge of child centred and play based teaching approaches.
  • Experience with communication development in children.
  • Previous experience in a school or educational setting.
