The Opportunity:

We are seeking a compassionate and adaptable Teaching Assistant to support the learning of children aged 4–11 in a supportive and dynamic school setting. This role plays a vital part in helping students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) thrive academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the learning of individual children or groups under the direction of teachers and senior staff
  • Assist in developing an understanding of pupils’ needs and SEND requirements
  • Create a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students
  • Monitor and report on changes in student behaviour or mood
  • Participate in safeguarding training and follow the school’s safeguarding policies
  • Attend and complete required safeguarding checks and training
  • Collaborate with teachers to enhance student learning outcomes
  • Provide additional support during lessons and in the classroom

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Level 3 qualification in teaching or equivalent experience
  • Experience working with children aged 4–11
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility to work term time only, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break

Preferred

  • Experience working with students with special educational needs and disabilities
  • Previous experience in a school or educational setting
  • Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures
  • Experience with curriculum development or support teaching
