The Opportunity:
As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with individual learning needs and promoting an inclusive environment. This position is essential in ensuring that all pupils have access to quality education and are supported in their academic and personal development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support pupils with individual learning needs, ensuring their safety and engagement in learning activities.
- Assist in the management of classroom behaviour and implement strategies to support learning goals.
- Update and share pupil passports with relevant staff to communicate specific needs.
- Provide feedback on pupil progress and achievements in line with teacher guidance.
- Maintain a purposeful and supportive learning environment.
- Administer tests and invigilate exams as required.
- Encourage positive pupil behaviour and address conflicts promptly.
- Establish and maintain constructive relationships with parents and carers.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience working with children with special educational needs.
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
- Understanding of inclusive education practices and behaviour management techniques.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Commitment to Catholic values and inclusive education.
Preferred
- Previous experience as a teaching assistant or in a similar role.
- Experience in supporting pupils with a range of learning needs.
- Familiarity with pupil record-keeping and reporting systems.
- Knowledge of SEND policies and procedures.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary based on grade and experience.
- Fixed term contract with 30 hours per week, term time plus 5 inset days.
