The Opportunity:

Join a dynamic team as a Teaching Assistant - Vocational Curriculum, supporting students in practical, real-world learning environments. This role is essential in helping students develop skills and confidence through vocational pathways, ensuring they are prepared for future education or employment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students in vocational subject areas such as Motor Vehicle, Construction, or Food Technology through hands-on learning.
  • Work under the direction of the class teacher or HLTA to implement planning and assessment strategies.
  • Assist in developing communication, behaviour management, and social skills to help students overcome learning barriers.
  • Promote positive relationships with parents, carers, and external agencies.
  • Provide individual or small group support to achieve accelerated pupil progress.
  • Flexibly support multiple curriculum areas as needed.
  • Monitor and report on the impact of class-based interventions.
  • Encourage independence and responsibility in students through practical learning experiences.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Practical skills in one or more vocational areas: Motor Vehicle, Construction, or Food Technology.
  • Experience working with students in a supportive, educational environment.
  • Ability to engage students in hands-on, practical learning.
  • Commitment to supporting students with diverse needs and promoting inclusion.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching or supporting students in an alternative provision setting.
  • Knowledge of vocational curriculum delivery.
  • Experience with behaviour management and inclusion strategies.
  • Background in working with young people who have faced educational challenges.
